I started off as a subbie, so it was just me and 2 other guys. About 3 years ago I decided to move into contracting on my own. It's taken a lot of bloody sweat and tears but it's the sort of work we want to do. It's profitable, its enjoyable. I have guys with good skills, but I knew nothing about running a business.

Since joining PROTRADE United it's taken off since then. I've learned new skills, I've learned a lot along the way and the business in going really great. In the past I was sometimes scratching for work, week to week. Now for the last 12 months we are always booked out 4 weeks in advance.

I'm now able to spend less time doing the paperwork and things flow a lot better. We've been able to take 4 weeks holiday each year. I've been able to build a team of good performers people that are reliable and take pride in their work. All of these things make for less stress and have given me greater quality of life.

It's pretty amazing to look back at where we started just 3 or 4 years ago to where we are now. I couldn't have done it without being educated. It's good to have the guys at PROTRADE are there to bounce ideas off and give us some direction. We have a good little business going on now. It's not the biggest but we like to think were the best. It's enjoyable coming to work now.
